Release Resistance, Trust in me. Love Always, God

This morning as I awoke this phrase continued to run through my mind. Its meaning is simple, when it comes right down to it the phrase simply means we should accept whole heartedly that God is (and should be) in control. Understanding its intent is the easy part. Applying it to our lives is where things can get murky. When we are in utero and our bodies are forming we have complete faith and trust that God knows exactly what to do to make us whole. The same is true of our parents at that time. They believe that a power outside of themselves will transform the union of the sperm and egg into a complete baby within 9 months. After birth however all bets are off so to speak. We start to make assessments of what we like or dislike and from those assessments determine what should or shouldn’t be part of our existence. Similarly, our parents/caregivers try to control our environments and circumstances based upon their desire to provide what they feel is best for us. All of this is part of life and when all goes as we plan we feel that God loves us and our lives are how they should be. It is however when things do not go as we plan that suddenly we feel there must be some mistake. When relationships crumble, illness arises, a loved one passes, we lose a job or things we thought would happen simply haven’t. Its then we feel we know what is right for us or our children and that the current circumstances are somehow not supposed to be part of our journey. We create a resistance to what is happening and find it hard to trust that things are as they should be for us at this time. In our resistance we lose peace and thrust ourselves into turmoil. We get angry, sad, and disheartened pushing us farther from the light, love and positive energy flow that is the basis of the universe. Its then that the reminder above is needed. Acknowledging and accepting that the one in control knows now as he always has what is needed to make us all whole.
